Promoting Learning & Skills

Learning & Skills is a further education and training provider based in Darlington. They offer a number of FREE courses to help local adults gain in confidence, upskill and get the job they want. These range from pre-entry level courses for people with limited skills and experience, through to A-level equivalent qualifications. They also offer apprenticeships and courses for younger learners aged between 16 and 18.

Functional Skills Courses

Learning & Skills are officially booking initial assessments for our functional skills maths, English, ESOL and Digital skills courses! Assessments are held weekly at The Coleridge centre (DL1 5AJ), Fridays at 1pm. Career Courses

Upskill for employment Food Manufacturing with ABP – From 30th June to 4th July – Monday to Friday – 10am till 3pm – APB foods Dale House, Leeming Bar, Northallerton DL7 9UL ( 1 week) – North Yorkshire Location Only!

This course is for anybody aged 19+ who lives within the North Yorkshire area and is interested in working within a food factory. Gain interview techniques, further knowledge of ABP Foods, their values and what they do and what skills are needed to work in food manufacturing, such as manual handling and food safety. At the end of the course, you will be given a tour of the company, and a guaranteed interview.

Upskill for employment Customer Service with Arriva – From 7th July to 11th July – Monday to Friday – 10am till 3pm – Coleridge Centre, Darlington, DL1 5AJ ( 1 week) 

This course is for anybody aged 19+ who lives within the Darlington area and is interested in working bus driving. Learn valuable skills in customer service, confidence building sessions, problem solving and conflict resolution tactics, and general duties within the role. At the end of the course, you will be given a tour of the company, and a guaranteed interview.
