Caterpillar Experience
This term a group of Key Stage 4 students had the chance to visit the Caterpillar manufacturing and testing facility in Peterlee, County Durham.
The site builds heavy duty Caterpillar trucks and equipment for use in construction and quarry work. The vehicles are then put through their paces in the custom designed testing quarry.
Rise Carr students worked with Caterpillar’s Senior Training Consultant, Sharon Grant and Caterpillar apprentices on engineering based problem solving activities before moving onto the quarry. Here they saw vehicles demonstrating their capabilities in the tough environment and got an opportunity to examine the trucks at first hand.
A thoroughly good and valuable experience was had by all with Sharon Grant complimenting the students on their behaviour and level of interest shown.
