Referrals will be received directly to the local authority, through a designated referral form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure referrals are appropriate and make the best use of the Home and Hospital Teaching Service capacity, referrers should be encouraged to phone and discuss any referrals they are considering. It may be that the Home and Hospital Teaching service can provide appropriate advice and guidance or intervention to support the pupil to remain receiving education from their school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0All referrals will be reviewed by a multi-disciplinary panel operating as a subgroup of the Vulnerable Pupil Panel. The constituent members of the panel will be subject to ongoing review and development but will as a minimum will incorporate a Senior representative from the Home and Hospital Teaching Service which ordinarily the advisory teacher, a representative from the Virtual School, Educational Psychology Service, SEND and Building Stronger Families. The panel will consider carefully whether removing a child from school for a short period is the best option for the child, or whether there are other sources of support which may enable the pupil to continue their education with adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
